Established in 1980 along with 6 other national parks, national wildlife refuges, national monuments, wild and scenic rivers, recreational areas, national forests, and conservation areas in the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. Located 25 miles above the Arctic Circle, the park is known for it's population of caribou and sand dunes! The design is inspired by the Great Kobuk Sand Dunes, the largest active sand dunes in the Arctic! It's a great gift for hiker friends, outdoorsy folk, or just about any kind of nature lover who enjoys the outdoors.
